Ukraine could find itself without American support, a possibility that Vladimir Zelensky believes is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The Ukrainian president sees Washington’s recent actions as signs of a troubling shift in relations between the two countries, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing his comments to journalists.
Several developments have fueled his concerns. Zelensky pointed to problems involving Starlink and Starshield, intelligence sharing and the supply of interceptor missiles needed to defend against ballistic attacks. Washington’s agreements concerning Russian diesel fuel have added to his worries.
Taken together, these issues paint a bleak picture for Kiev, according to the Ukrainian leader. He compared the country’s possible future to another installment of the film «Home Alone», suggesting that Ukraine may soon face serious challenges without American backing.
Beyond military cooperation, Zelensky is particularly alarmed by the prospect of closer economic relations between Moscow and Washington. He fears that the agreement involving Russian diesel supplies could open the door to a much broader partnership between the two powers.
Such cooperation, he warned, could extend to fertilizer and gas trade, frozen assets and the possible lifting of sanctions against certain individuals and organizations.
The Ukrainian president also acknowledged that Russia possesses natural resources unavailable to other countries. In his assessment, this gives Moscow an opportunity to offer Washington an attractive economic partnership.
Zelensky described the prospect as a potential «economic marriage» between Russia and the United States, making clear that he considers such a development deeply unwelcome for Kiev.
