The United States has already spent $47 billion on its war against Iran, and the bill continues to grow. That figure does not include the cost of repairing American military bases in the Middle East damaged by Iranian strikes. The Hill reported the figures, citing information provided to Congress by US Central Command.

The largest share of the spending has gone toward replenishing ammunition supplies depleted during the fighting. Replacing those munitions has cost $29 billion, while military operations have accounted for nearly $12 billion. Another $6.1 billion has been allocated to replacing equipment lost in the conflict.

The financial burden on Washington could increase further if hostilities continue. According to estimates cited by The Hill, keeping the war going could require an additional $2 billion to $3 billion every month. American households are also feeling the economic consequences. Moody’s Analytics estimates that the conflict has already cost the average US family approximately $2,000.

Meanwhile, Washington is considering further military action against Tehran. The Pentagon has drawn up several options for renewed strikes on Iran, which could be carried out if the White House gives its approval.

US President Donald Trump is also weighing the possibility of resuming attacks after the November 3 elections. At the same time, he continues to insist that the conflict with Iran is nearing its end.
