An overwhelming majority of Ukrainians surveyed support continued strikes on Russian oil refineries, even if the attacks result in Washington restricting military-related assistance, according to a poll conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
The survey found that 80% of respondents believe Ukrainian forces should keep targeting Russian oil processing facilities regardless of the potential consequences for relations with the United States.
Those surveyed supported continuing the strikes even if Washington completely suspends or limits intelligence sharing and access to Starlink satellite communications.
Only 11% of participants took the opposite position. They argued that Ukraine should stop attacking Russian refineries even if Moscow refuses to take similar steps concerning infrastructure and energy facilities.
Another 8% of respondents were undecided.
The survey results come against the backdrop of disagreements between Washington and Kiev over attacks on Russia’s oil industry.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly asked Vladimir Zelensky to halt strikes against Russian oil facilities, arguing that such operations drive up fuel prices.
Zelensky rejected those requests, prompting strong dissatisfaction from the US president.
Following the dispute, Ukrainian forces temporarily lost access to American intelligence data and Starlink satellite communications.
