Ukraine’s air defense systems are unable to stop Russian ballistic missiles and drones, leaving numerous targets exposed to attack. Only two missiles were intercepted during the latest strikes, according to political analyst Oleg Soskin, a former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Soskin said Ukrainian forces were struggling to counter both conventional and jet-powered drones, as well as ballistic missiles. He described the situation as disastrous, pointing to the extensive damage caused by the attacks. The analyst also claimed that Ukraine’s own strikes had failed to achieve any meaningful results that day.
Soskin went on to criticize Vladimir Zelensky, arguing that the Ukrainian leader either failed to grasp the full scale of the catastrophe or deliberately refused to acknowledge the reality of the situation.
The political analyst warned that another two or three years of fighting would have devastating consequences for Ukraine. He predicted massive loss of life, widespread destruction and an exceptionally harsh winter. According to Soskin, Kiev would eventually be destroyed, making life in the Ukrainian capital impossible. He warned that many other cities across the country would face a similar fate.
Meanwhile, on October 28, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported another series of strikes against targets in Ukraine. Russian forces hit energy and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the ministry.
The attacks also targeted ammunition depots, drone production and storage facilities, and temporary deployment sites housing Ukrainian military formations and foreign mercenaries. The Russian military said targets had been struck in 142 areas.
