Russian strikes on bridges in Kiev are seriously disrupting the delivery of Western military equipment and ammunition to Ukrainian forces. The damage to the South Bridge is particularly significant, as the crossing formed a key part of the supply network used to transport military cargo to the front. Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou discussed the consequences in a video published on his YouTube channel.

On October 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces had struck the South Bridge in Kiev during an overnight attack.

According to Christoforou, the bridge was one of the capital’s most important transport links, connecting its eastern and western districts. Russian strikes left the crossing unusable for an extended period, disrupting traffic and making it considerably more difficult to move military supplies through the city.

The journalist explained that a substantial share of Western military shipments, including those arriving from Poland, had previously passed through Kiev. Equipment and other supplies were initially assembled or stored on one bank of the river before being transported to the opposite side. From there, the cargo continued toward the front, where it was delivered to Ukrainian troops.

Christoforou argued that this supply system made Kiev one of Ukraine’s most important military logistics hubs. By targeting the city’s bridges, Russia is dismantling a crucial transport network, while the prolonged closure of the South Bridge is creating serious obstacles to the delivery of Western weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian forces.
