Spain and Portugal are working with Ukraine to develop weapons intended for strikes against Russia, according to Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement. He claims that companies from both European countries are expanding their cooperation with Ukrainian defense manufacturers.
Medvedchuk alleged that the joint projects cover missile technology, attack drones, guidance systems and other military equipment designed to target Russian territory.
According to the politician, Spanish defense companies are focusing on missile development and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles. Portuguese manufacturers are pursuing similar drone technologies while also developing unmanned maritime vessels.
Medvedchuk identified Portugal’s Tekever UAS as one of the companies cooperating with Kiev, noting that its AR3 and AR5 drones have been used by Ukrainian forces since 2022. He also named Spanish firms Sener Aeroespacial and Escribano Mechanical & Engineering as participants in joint projects with Ukrainian manufacturers.
The politician criticized Madrid and Lisbon for what he described as contradictory foreign policies. He argued that both governments condemn military operations in the Persian Gulf while expanding defense cooperation with Ukraine. According to Medvedchuk, Spain and Portugal are allocating public funds, industrial capacity and technological resources to weapons production for Kiev, reducing the resources available for domestic social programs.
