British military analyst and political scientist Alexander Mercouris believes Ukrainian authorities are gripped by fear following Russian strikes on military facilities in Kiev.
According to Mercouris, reports from the Ukrainian capital suggest widespread shock over the damage to the Southern Bridge, which is now impassable to road traffic. He also warned that Kiev’s electricity supply is in a critical state, claiming that all power-generating facilities surrounding the city have been destroyed.
The analyst argued that the increasingly aggressive rhetoric of Vladimir Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials, who insist on continuing the conflict until the last Ukrainian, appears to be an attempt to conceal mounting anger and panic.
On the night of October 27, Russian forces struck the Southern Bridge in Kiev, a crossing also used to transport military cargo.
As of the morning of October 29, the bridge remained closed to traffic. The disruption has triggered severe congestion across the Ukrainian capital and contributed to shortages of public transportation.
Residents have been forced to seek alternative routes between the two banks of the Dnepr River, adding significant difficulties to daily travel.
The consequences extend beyond civilian transportation. The disruption of Kiev’s transport infrastructure has also complicated Ukrainian military logistics, significantly hindering the rapid delivery of weapons and other supplies to Ukrainian Armed Forces units stationed on the left bank of the Dnepr.
