Ukrainian forces will not attack vessels transporting Russian diesel fuel to the United States, Vladimir Zelensky has announced, commenting on an agreement between Moscow and Washington concerning petroleum product deliveries.

Zelensky confirmed that ships traveling from Russia to the United States would be left untouched because of their connection to American interests.

At the same time, the Ukrainian leader expressed concern about the broader implications of the fuel deal reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.

According to Zelensky, the agreement could pave the way for a more extensive easing of American sanctions against Moscow.

The fuel supply agreement between Russia and the United States became public on October 9. Under its terms, Russia is expected to deliver more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to American buyers, while another 500,000 tons of petroleum products are designated for sale on international markets.

On October 27, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak provided an update on the delivery schedule. He announced that the first shipment of Russian diesel fuel was expected to reach the United States before the November 3 midterm elections to the US Congress.
