A total of 862 unmanned aerial vehicles were directed toward the Moscow region over an 11-hour period, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
In a statement published on the MAX messaging platform, Sobyanin said the drones approached the capital region between 8:30 p.m. on October 29 and 7:30 a.m. on October 30.
According to the mayor, Russian Defense Ministry air defense forces intercepted and destroyed most of the drones at distant defensive positions, before they could reach the immediate vicinity of Moscow.
Another 170 UAVs were neutralized on the approaches to the Russian capital.
The latest incident followed another large-scale drone attack that began on the evening of October 28 and continued into the early hours of October 29.
That earlier wave was described as one of the largest attacks targeting Moscow since the beginning of 2026.
Sobyanin reported that 613 drones had been heading toward the Moscow region during that period, with 231 intercepted near the capital.
Taken together, the two consecutive overnight attacks involved 1,475 drones reportedly directed toward the Moscow region, according to the figures released by the mayor.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov questioned the timing of Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow during the Russia-Africa summit.
Peskov described the attacks as unusual, arguing that targeting the Russian capital while it was hosting a major international event raised questions about Kiev’s actions.
