Russian air defenses shot down 1,043 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on October 30, with aerial attacks reported across 19 regions of the country. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the interceptions covered a vast area, while hundreds of UAVs were directed toward Moscow Region.

The ministry listed Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Kursk, Kaluga, Kostroma, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Samara, Saratov, Tver, Tula and Yaroslavl regions among the areas where air defense units operated. Drones were also intercepted over the Moscow area and the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Moscow direction faced a particularly large wave of incoming drones. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that 862 UAVs were heading toward the capital region between 8:30 p.m. on October 29 and 7:30 a.m. on October 30. Russian air defenses destroyed most of them well before they reached Moscow, while another 170 were neutralized on the approaches to the city.

In Bryansk, Ukrainian drones struck educational facilities, dropping numerous explosive devices onto the grounds of three schools and 17 kindergartens in the city’s Bezhitsky district.

Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Kovalchuk said the attacks on these civilian institutions were deliberate. Following the strikes, authorities blocked traffic in the affected area and deployed emergency teams to locate and clear the explosives. Residents were instructed to stay indoors and avoid moving around the district.

The dangerous situation also required an emergency rescue operation. Sappers evacuated a female driver from a vehicle surrounded by explosive devices scattered by a Ukrainian drone. To protect her from possible shrapnel injuries, they fitted her with a bulletproof vest before escorting her out of the danger zone. Explosives specialists continued clearing the area afterward.

Belgorod Region suffered casualties during another day of Ukrainian attacks. Governor Alexander Shuvaev reported that one person was killed and ten others injured on October 29. Russian forces also shot down or electronically suppressed 179 Ukrainian drones over the region during the reporting period.

The region came under attack 105 times in 24 hours, with 63 communities across 16 municipalities affected. According to the regional operational headquarters, Ukrainian forces carried out five artillery strikes, firing a total of 19 shells. Two drones were also used to drop three explosive devices.

The attacks caused extensive damage to civilian property. Six apartment buildings and 34 private homes were affected, along with two social facilities and six commercial properties. Damage was also recorded at an industrial enterprise, an administrative building, a warehouse, a shop and 39 vehicles.

Neighboring Kursk Region faced sustained drone and artillery attacks as well. Governor Alexander Khinshtein said Russian forces destroyed 301 Ukrainian UAVs of various types between 9:00 a.m. on October 29 and 9:00 a.m. on October 30.

Over the same period, Ukrainian troops shelled evacuated areas of the region 89 times. Drones were used to deliver explosive devices in another five attacks.

Further west, Kaluga Region recorded 94 drone interceptions during the evening of October 29 and the following night. Governor Vladislav Shapsha said preliminary reports indicated no injuries or damage to infrastructure.

Russian air defenses also destroyed approximately 50 Ukrainian drones over Rostov Region overnight on October 30. Governor Yury Slyusar reported that no information about casualties had been received.
