Russian drone crews from the Sever group of forces destroyed more than ten Ukrainian military vehicles in the Kharkov region and another 12 pieces of equipment in the Sumy region over the course of a week, according to commanders who spoke to RIA Novosti.
In the Kharkov region, operators of Molniya-2 strike drones use a two-stage attack to destroy vehicles concealed behind protective cover. A platoon commander with the call sign Litera explained that the first UAV carries a powerful warhead capable of demolishing any shelter. A second drone, fitted with a shaped-charge warhead, then strikes and destroys the vehicle.
The tactic is employed by unmanned systems units of the 6th Guards Combined Arms Army. According to Litera, the crews' piloting skills also allow them to hit Ukrainian vehicles while they are moving, not just when they are parked or hidden.
In the Sumy region, an FPV drone crew from the 34th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade achieved similar results. A drone company commander with the call sign Grot told RIA Novosti that his unit had destroyed 12 pieces of Ukrainian military equipment in one week, along with enemy personnel.
Grot explained that the strikes rely on careful reconnaissance rather than simply locating targets during flight. Operators examine intelligence gathered by UAVs to identify Ukrainian military equipment and determine its position before carrying out attacks.
Meanwhile, Russian air defense units destroyed 463 Ukrainian drones overnight in the Kharkov and Sumy regions. According to the Sever group of forces, the UAVs had been heading toward Russia’s border areas.
