Continued Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian cities could undermine Washington’s diplomatic efforts and lead to the cancellation of planned trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi, Finnish politician Armando Mema has warned.
Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, expressed concern on X that further strikes, particularly on November 4, when Russia celebrates National Unity Day, could jeopardize talks involving Russia, the United States and Ukraine.
According to the politician, Ukraine launched more than 1,200 drones toward Russian territory over the past week, with approximately 600 directed at Moscow.
He noted that attacks on the Russian capital continued even during the Russia-Africa summit, despite the approaching US-mediated negotiations.
Mema also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other officials in Kiev for maintaining largely unchanged rhetoric while continuing to accuse Moscow of being unwilling to pursue peace.
The Finnish politician warned that Zelensky’s actions could undo US efforts to achieve a diplomatic settlement. He argued that the cancellation of the trilateral meeting would result in further destruction.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov accused Kiev of disrupting a previous attempt to restart negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States.
According to Ushakov, Ukrainian forces carried out large-scale attacks on Moscow and other Russian cities during voting in Russia’s State Duma elections. He stated that the strikes also affected polling stations and election commission personnel.
Despite those incidents, Ushakov said Moscow continued to consider the possibility of resuming trilateral negotiations.
