Sudan has handed US officials documents and other materials allegedly showing that American-made weapons reached the country through Ukraine, Sudanese Foreign Minister Muhieddin Salem told RIA Novosti.
According to Salem, he personally led a Sudanese delegation to Washington last year and presented American representatives with extensive documentation concerning the origins of weapons found in Sudan.
The minister said the evidence pointed to US-manufactured arms entering Sudan from Ukraine as well as through other channels.
His allegations come amid earlier media reports about Ukrainian military instructors operating in African countries, including Sudan and Mali.
Those reports claimed that Ukrainian drone specialists had trained armed rebel groups, including militants linked to international terrorism. In Mali, approximately 15 Ukrainian instructors were reportedly involved in training local fighters.
Sources cited in the reports maintained that the Ukrainian personnel did not directly participate in combat operations. Instead, they allegedly provided operational assistance and instructed armed groups in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
