Australia’s DefendTex has introduced Night Wraith, a lightweight precision-strike munition designed to hit targets at distances of up to 1,000 kilometers. The company is positioning the weapon as a lower-cost alternative to larger guided missiles, according to the Military Chronicle channel.

The new system made its debut at the Land Forces 2026 exhibition in Perth, where DefendTex CEO Travis Reddy outlined its capabilities. Night Wraith combines an unusually long claimed operating range with a compact design and relatively low weight.

The munition measures 2.3 meters in length and has a wingspan of 2.5 meters. Its total weight is approximately 10 kilograms without an additional booster, including a warhead weighing around 4 kilograms.

In flight, Night Wraith maintains a cruising speed of roughly 200 km/h, while its maximum speed can reach 500 km/h. The concept behind the project is to provide an affordable means of conducting precision strikes against distant targets without deploying heavy cruise missiles.

However, the weapon’s compact dimensions come with a significant drawback. Despite its advertised 1,000-kilometer reach, Night Wraith carries a warhead weighing just 4 kilograms. This considerably limits its destructive potential compared with conventional long-range missiles and drones.
