Russia’s General Staff has a list of targets designated for potential strikes using the Oreshnik missile system, State Duma Defense Committee member Alexey Zhuravlev told Lenta.ru.

According to the lawmaker, deploying Oreshnik does not require any special circumstances or provocations. He explained that the Russian military selects weapons based on specific operational objectives rather than using them as an emotional response to enemy actions.

Zhuravlev emphasized that Oreshnik is an extremely dangerous but expensive weapon system, making its use against unsuitable targets unjustified.

He also pointed to the considerable attention generated by the missile system’s previous combat launches as evidence of its destructive capabilities and military significance.

The parliamentarian expressed confidence that Russia’s General Staff has already identified targets for which Oreshnik would be an appropriate weapon.

According to Zhuravlev, strikes against those targets would be carried out once the relevant military order is issued.
