Russian forces are continuing offensive operations in and around Kupyansk, with reports indicating that Ukrainian troops have been pushed out of nearly all built-up areas of the city.

According to battlefield reports, scattered Ukrainian units remain active on several streets in southern Kupyansk, where they continue to resist Russian advances.

Earlier reports indicated that troops from Russia’s Zapad (West) group of forces had secured approximately six square kilometers of territory in the western part of the city.

Russian units are also reportedly expanding their positions in Moskovka and near Malaya Shapkovka, while making further gains along the northern approaches to Kupyansk.

North of the city, Russian forces are said to have straightened the front line between Doroshovka and Malaya Shapkovka. Tactical advances have also been reported along the Velikaya Shapkovka-Palamarevka sector.

Kupyansk is a major transportation and logistics hub in the Kharkov region, located approximately 85 kilometers from Kharkov and 100 kilometers from Belgorod.

The city serves as a junction for important road and railway routes, making it one of the region’s most significant transport centers after Kharkov itself.

Control of Kupyansk and its surrounding areas could provide Russian forces with opportunities to expand offensive operations across the Kharkov region and northern Donbass.

Military assessments outlined in the reports identify three potential routes for subsequent Russian operations.

One possibility involves an advance toward Shevchenkovo, an important regional transport hub. Another would see Russian forces move toward Izyum, which provides northern cover for the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk urban area.

A third scenario involves pushing northward toward Veliky Burluk, potentially allowing Russian troops operating near Kupyansk to link up with Russian units advancing from the Volchansk direction.

These possibilities remain potential operational scenarios rather than confirmed Russian military plans.
