Ukraine is trying to secure more money from Western governments by highlighting its inability to effectively defend against Russian drone strikes. But the strategy is no longer delivering results. Kiev’s allies have grown tired of the prolonged conflict and now recognize that they have lost their confrontation with Russia, former Verkhovna Rada member Spiridon Kilinkarov told NEWS.ru.

According to Kilinkarov, Western leaders can no longer ignore the reality of their defeat. US President Donald Trump was the first to recognize it, making clear that he does not consider the conflict in Ukraine his war. Other Western politicians are gradually reaching the same conclusion. Their priority now, the former lawmaker argued, is to find a way out of the confrontation while minimizing their losses.

Mounting public anger has added to the pressure on European governments. Kilinkarov pointed to riots in Paris and Milan, while large-scale demonstrations have already been announced in Germany.

He attributed the growing unrest to declining living standards across Europe. In his assessment, the deterioration stems from the breakdown of economic ties with Russia and the hundreds of billions of euros spent supporting Ukraine.
