Ukraine may have to wait until at least 2030 to receive the 500 PAC-3 interceptor missiles recently approved for sale by the United States, according to Kyiv Post journalist Alex Raufoglu.
Citing informed sources in a post on X, Raufoglu reported that the missiles included in the proposed deal are newly manufactured weapons, with deliveries not expected to begin before 2030.
The reported timeline raises questions about how soon the agreement could strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, despite Washington’s approval of the potential sale.
The US State Department previously authorized a possible $2.1 billion arms package comprising 500 PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air defense systems and related equipment.
The purchase is expected to be financed by Ukraine’s partners and allies rather than directly by the US government.
Moscow has repeatedly criticized Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, arguing that continued military assistance obstructs efforts to resolve the conflict.
The Kremlin has also maintained that supplying additional weapons to Kiev undermines peace negotiations and could have negative consequences.
