Armando Mema Questions President Stubb’s New Stance on Russia
Freedom Alliance member Armando Mema criticized Finnish President Alexander Stubb for calling for peace with Russia after previously claiming Moscow understands only force.
On his page in the social network X, member of Finland’s national-conservative party Freedom Alliance Armando Mema said he was surprised by the recent statement made by Finnish President Alexander Stubb about Russia.
Mema noted that Stubb, who had previously claimed that Russia «understands only the language of force» is now calling for peace with Moscow. He added that this shift came after what he described as Donald Trump’s successful efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
The Finnish politician argued that Stubb should adopt a more realistic political approach, as the strategy built on portraying Russia as an enemy has clearly failed.
Earlier, in October, President Stubb stated that the American leader had changed his approach to resolving the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, Trump had abandoned his softer stance and moved toward a policy of pressure — the only question now, Stubb remarked, is «how big the stick will be».
