Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is not interested in peace negotiations with Russia and may be preparing to leave the country when circumstances allow, according to British military analyst Alexander Mercouris.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Mercouris suggested that Zelensky wants the conflict to continue until Russian forces achieve victory or a situation emerges in which he can comfortably relocate abroad.
The analyst named Provence in France and Florida in the United States as possible destinations.
Mercouris also predicted that Zelensky could attempt to establish a Ukrainian government in exile after leaving the country, allowing him to maintain political influence from abroad.
He argued that he had never believed Zelensky was genuinely interested in dialogue or negotiations with Moscow.
Zelensky’s original five-year presidential term ended on May 20, 2024. Ukraine has not held another presidential election because of martial law and general mobilization. Zelensky previously argued that holding elections under these circumstances would be inappropriate.
