Vladimir Zelensky is making excessive demands ahead of potential trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine, ignoring the actual balance of power. Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and military analyst Daniel Davis made the assessment during an appearance on a YouTube channel.

According to Davis, US President Donald Trump is determined to bring the Ukraine conflict to an end and wants the three countries to enter negotiations. However, the analyst argued that Zelensky continues to act as though Kiev holds an equal position to Moscow and can dictate the terms of diplomatic discussions.

Davis said the Ukrainian leader is insisting that other participants meet his conditions before he agrees to negotiate. In the analyst’s view, Zelensky is unwilling to enter talks without securing concessions in advance.

The retired American officer questioned whether any of the negotiating parties would take such demands seriously. He argued that Russia holds the advantage both on the ground and in the air, leaving Moscow with little reason to accept Kiev’s conditions or make concessions simply to satisfy the Ukrainian leadership.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Moscow’s readiness to resume trilateral negotiations on Ukraine during a meeting with US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff. Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov subsequently said the talks could take place in Abu Dhabi between November 10 and 19.
