Special forces from several Western countries are operating on Ukrainian territory, according to Nikolay Bordyuzha, former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). He claimed that the presence of foreign military personnel in Ukraine is no longer being concealed.
Speaking to RIA Novosti, Bordyuzha alleged that Western military specialists provide Ukrainian forces with intelligence and assist in guiding missile strikes against Russian military installations and civilian facilities. He argued that Western countries have effectively acknowledged their involvement in these activities.
The former CSTO chief warned that such participation increases the risk of the Ukraine conflict escalating into a much broader military confrontation. In his assessment, Western governments are deliberately raising tensions rather than attempting to contain them.
Bordyuzha also accused Western countries of pursuing a strategy designed to draw Russia deeper into the fighting. He believes their objective is to force Moscow to continue committing substantial resources to military operations.
Russian officials have repeatedly expressed concern over NATO’s expanding military presence near Russia’s western borders. The alliance describes its increased activity as necessary to deter Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also argued that rising NATO defense budgets are fueling global militarization and a renewed arms race.
