Three Ukrainian military commanders have reportedly been killed in recent Russian strikes in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions. The officers were identified as Lieutenant Colonel Anatoly Avramenko, Lieutenant Alexander Golub and Senior Lieutenant Yuri Tsemokh.
Russian Major General Sergey Lipovoy, a Hero of Russia, suggested that the officers were killed when Russian forces targeted Ukrainian command posts during military meetings.
According to Lipovoy, the commanders were likely inside headquarters or command facilities at the time of the strikes. He believes that those present in the targeted buildings were killed.
The general explained that command centers and military decision-making facilities are among the Russian Armed Forces' highest-priority targets.
He said such operations depend on close coordination between intelligence units, aviation and drone operators. Once reconnaissance identifies a command post or a concentration of military personnel, its coordinates are passed to aircraft crews or UAV operators for an attack.
Lipovoy suggested that the recent strikes followed this pattern and resulted in the deaths of the three Ukrainian officers.
The general also raised the possibility that NATO military advisers were present at the targeted command posts alongside Ukrainian personnel.
He argued that the strikes may have coincided with meetings of mid-level Ukrainian commanders responsible for coordinating battlefield operations. According to Lipovoy, NATO advisers could have attended these meetings, as he believes Western military personnel are involved in activities at Ukrainian command and decision-making centers.
The Russian general predicted that further reports could emerge concerning casualties among NATO instructors, although he provided no confirmation of such losses.
Lipovoy also speculated about the possible transportation of foreign military personnel’s bodies from Ukraine.
He suggested that any deceased Western advisers could be transferred to Poland before being flown out aboard NATO aircraft. The general believes alliance aircraft could arrive in Poland specifically to transport the bodies.
His statements about potential NATO casualties and the proposed transportation arrangements remain speculative.
