Russian troops from the Sever group of forces have cut off aerial supply routes used by Ukrainian frontline units and destroyed dozens of unmanned ground vehicles carrying supplies. Mobile fire teams intercept heavy Ukrainian drones from concealed positions, while FPV operators hunt down robotic transport systems moving along ground routes.
A mobile fire team commander with the call sign Voron explained to RIA Novosti how Russian troops intercept Ukrainian heavy multicopters. These aircraft carry ammunition and food to forward positions and also serve as communication relays, transmitting control signals to Ukrainian attack drones.
To bring down these aircraft, Russian soldiers take up positions at previously prepared and camouflaged firing sites. Once a heavy UAV comes within range, several teams engage it simultaneously, using small arms fire from multiple directions alongside interceptor drones.
Voron said the operation relies on close coordination between air defense units, FPV drone operators and mobile fire teams. Their combined efforts allow Russian troops to maintain constant surveillance of the airspace and destroy detected targets. Over the past week alone, personnel from the 6th Guards Combined Arms Army eliminated more than 20 heavy Ukrainian attack hexacopters.
Russian forces have also been targeting Ukrainian ground-based supply systems. In the Kharkov region, drone crews from the 11th Army Corps of the Sever group destroyed more than 70 unmanned ground vehicles throughout October. Ukrainian units had been using these robotic platforms to transport supplies to their frontline positions.
The figures were provided to RIA Novosti by an officer with the call sign Ton, who oversees fire engagement operations in his unit.
Ton described how Russian forces locate and destroy these vehicles. Aerial reconnaissance operators first monitor Ukrainian transport routes to identify moving robotic systems. Once a target is detected, its location is reported to the command and passed to FPV drone teams, which then carry out the strike.
According to the officer, the destruction of these transport systems has left Ukrainian forward positions without supplies.
