The Russian Ministry of Defense released an update on the course of the military operation in Ukraine as of October 19. According to the report, Russian forces have taken control of two more settlements.

Units of the «Center» grouping advanced through active offensive operations and established control over Chunishino in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Meanwhile, troops from the «East» grouping pushed deeper into Ukrainian defenses and captured Poltavka in the Zaporozhye region. During this advance, Russian forces secured over 12 square kilometers of fortified territory and cleared more than 500 buildings.

The ministry emphasized that Ukrainian troops lost a prepared defense area of over 12 square kilometers as assault units of the Vostok grouping swept through the zone.

Additionally, Russian forces carried out strikes on Ukraine’s transport infrastructure used to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attacks involved operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, rocket forces, and artillery. In total, 143 locations hosting Ukrainian units or critical infrastructure were targeted.

According to the ministry’s figures, Ukrainian forces suffered around 1,600 personnel losses over the past day and lost 20 pieces of heavy equipment, including four tanks.
