US First Lady Melania Trump will host representatives from Russia and Ukraine at the White House on November 5. The meeting will focus on the ceasefire in Alyoshki, Kherson Region, which made it possible to carry out a humanitarian operation. Trump is expected to address the truce in a statement on Thursday, with the White House describing the upcoming event as a landmark moment in American history.

The identities of those attending the meeting remain undisclosed. The official announcement does not specify who will represent Moscow and Kiev.

The gathering follows a humanitarian mission in Alyoshki that was arranged through Melania Trump’s mediation. To allow the operation to proceed, Russia and Ukraine agreed to suspend hostilities in the Kherson sector. The ceasefire took effect at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time on October 27 and remained in place until 10:59 p.m. on November 1.

Preparations for the relief effort began several days before the aid reached the city. Russian troops cleared mines from roads leading into Alyoshki, securing access for the humanitarian convoy. On October 30, vehicles carrying food, medical supplies, fuel and personal hygiene products entered the city. The operation was overseen on the ground by Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova and her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Lubinets.

The mission also provided an opportunity for residents wishing to leave Alyoshki to evacuate. Some were transported to Ukraine, while others moved to safer regions of Russia.

On November 1, evacuees were received at a temporary accommodation facility set up within a health resort complex in Russia’s Kuban region. Those arriving at the facility have been provided with the assistance they need.
