Poland deployed additional security forces after unidentified individuals were spotted near its border with Russia on the night of November 3. Prime Minister Donald Tusk claimed that the response had prevented a possible Russian provocation, according to RMF24.

Tusk said border guards alerted the government to suspicious activity shortly after midnight. The alarm was raised after people carrying flashlights were seen in the border area, prompting Polish authorities to mobilize the necessary personnel and resources.

The prime minister maintained that the swift response had stopped what he described as a suspected Russian provocation.

Tusk also said Warsaw had received advance intelligence from NATO commanders warning of possible provocations and acts of sabotage along the border with Russia.

However, he acknowledged that Poland would never be able to confirm whether a provocation had actually been planned or attempted.

Despite that uncertainty, Tusk warned that tensions could continue to rise and that Russia could pursue further escalation. He stressed that Polish authorities must remain extremely vigilant.

The prime minister had previously warned that Poland faced extremely difficult weeks and months because of Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory.

According to Tusk, Warsaw has been forced to scramble military aircraft regularly in response to Russian attacks near the Polish border.
