The optimism once felt by Ukrainian soldiers on the front line is steadily fading, even with the prospect of new Western arms deliveries. This assessment was shared by German military analyst Julian Röpcke on his social media accounts.

He reported that Russian forces had advanced 20 kilometers in the Dnepropetrovsk region, while in Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk) the fighting has reached the city center.

Röpcke stated that Ukrainian defenders are increasingly vulnerable to Russian drones, and Russian ground forces are already present in the center of Pokrovsk. He noted that promised Western weapons, such as Tomahawk and Taurus missiles, as well as peacekeepers or logistical disruptions, have not materialized. According to him, the positive atmosphere that had persisted over the past four months on the front line is now fading.

He also stressed that despite continued Western support, the Ukrainian military is facing serious challenges. Röpcke described a sharp shift in sentiment within the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with confidence in a turning point and eventual victory gradually eroding.
