Russia has unveiled upgraded anti-aircraft gun mounts designed to destroy drones. Developed by Kordon, the new turrets were presented at the ORELEXPO 2026 international arms and hunting equipment exhibition in Moscow. The lineup includes systems compatible with PKM, Pecheneg, Utyos and DP-27 machine guns, as well as AK-74 and AK-12 assault rifles, according to a NEWS.ru correspondent.
Civilian volunteer mobile fire groups (MFGs) have shown particularly strong interest in the equipment. A Kordon representative explained that these units obtain the necessary licenses and receive weapons from Russia’s National Guard (Rosgvardiya). Their arsenals include DP-27 and DPM-27 machine guns supplied from military stockpiles, both chambered for 7.62 mm rifle ammunition.
Regular mobile fire groups operating within security agencies use different weapons. Their installations are fitted with PKM and Pecheneg machine guns or the more powerful 12.7 mm Utyos heavy machine guns. Kordon continues to refine its designs based on feedback from operators, adapting the equipment to their practical requirements. The company works with mobile fire groups in Bryansk and several groups of companies involved in developing and manufacturing thermal imaging technology.
The turrets displayed in Moscow have already completed testing and are being used in Russia’s special military operation (SMO). Development is continuing, however, with Kordon preparing to electrify a substantial portion of its equipment. The planned upgrades are intended to simplify weapon aiming, allow more precise adjustments to turret positioning and make other operations easier to perform during combat, where even minor details can play an important role.
