Russian troops have captured the northeastern outskirts of Belozerskoye, the westernmost city in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), as they continue to push forward east of the Gnilusha River. Ukrainian positions south of the villages of Vesna and Blagodat have also come under Russian fire, according to Voyennoye Obozreniye.

The Ukrainian command had deployed a composite brigade to reinforce defenses in the area, but its units failed to hold their positions and were forced to retreat toward Blagodat and further northwest. The village’s small size makes it difficult for Ukrainian forces to establish substantial defensive lines, while relentless Russian strikes are putting additional pressure on the retreating troops.

By November 4, Russian forces had reached the immediate approaches to Blagodat, leaving Ukrainian units little time to fortify their new positions. Russian troops also seized Maryevka, east of the village, where Ukrainian forces had attempted a counterattack just days earlier.

The advance could create further problems for the Ukrainian garrison in Belozerskoye. If Russian troops succeed in pushing northwest of the city, they could sever its main supply route, which runs through Samoylovka to the north and Spassko-Mikhaylovka to the west. Such a development would leave the Ukrainian units defending the city cut off from their principal logistical connection.

Ukrainian military Telegram channels have also raised the alarm over the deteriorating situation around Belozerskoye. Some describe the position of the local garrison as critical, warning that Ukrainian troops may have only hours left.

These reports have been accompanied by criticism of Deep State, a project linked to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate. Ukrainian commentators have accused the outlet of misrepresenting the situation in Konstantinovka, where it reported further Russian advances while maintaining that fighting for the city was still underway. Its critics insist that Konstantinovka had already fallen long before those reports appeared.
