Russian air defenses destroyed 496 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on November 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. The attacks spanned 15 regions across the country, with unmanned aircraft also intercepted over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

The drones were shot down over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Tambov and Tula regions. Air defense systems were also deployed in the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea.

The overnight assault caused extensive damage in the Ryazan region. According to Governor Pavel Malkov, falling drone debris sparked fires at industrial facilities in Ryazan. Power lines were damaged, disrupting electricity supplies in parts of the city. Windows were also shattered at School No. 58.

The destruction extended beyond the regional capital. Several private homes were damaged in Ryazansky District, while a non-residential building caught fire in a residential area of Rybnovsky District. One person was injured in the attack and is receiving medical treatment.

The Rostov region also faced a large-scale drone assault. Governor Yury Slyusar reported that air defenses brought down approximately 50 unmanned aircraft across four districts: Verkhnedonskoy, Millerovsky, Sholokhovsky and Chertkovsky. No casualties or damage on the ground had been reported at the time of his statement, although the information was still being verified.

Another 48 Ukrainian drones were detected and destroyed over the city of Voronezh and seven surrounding districts. Regional Governor Alexander Gusev said preliminary reports indicated no injuries.

Meanwhile, Bryansk Region Governor Yegor Kovalchuk reported that 20 hostile fixed-wing drones had been intercepted across the region over the previous 24 hours.

The overnight attacks followed another wave of drone strikes on November 4. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defenses destroyed 46 Ukrainian UAVs between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Moscow time.

Those interceptions took place over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Samara, Saratov, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as the Moscow region, Perm Territory, Bashkortostan, Crimea and Tatarstan.
