Ukrainian forces have resumed attacks aimed at disrupting Russia’s fuel infrastructure, with oil refineries once again coming under pressure. The renewed campaign was highlighted by the authors of the Russian Telegram channel Arkhangel Spetsnaza (AS).
According to the channel, Ukrainian drones targeted industrial facilities in Ryazan overnight on November 5, including the city’s oil refinery. Fires broke out following the attack. The Ryazan refinery ranks among Russia’s four largest oil-processing facilities by refining volume.
The channel’s authors reported that Ukrainian forces had intensified pressure on the Russian fuel sector ahead of winter, with at least five oil refineries already targeted in the latest series of attacks.
Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed on November 5 that a massive drone raid had sparked fires at industrial facilities in the region. However, he did not identify the specific enterprises involved or disclose which sites Ukrainian forces had attempted to strike.
The incident follows an earlier Ukrainian attack on an oil refinery in Yaroslavl. That strike damaged the facility’s infrastructure and left two employees injured.
On October 30, Ukrainian forces also launched strikes against three Russian oil refineries and a gas chemical complex. One of the targeted facilities sustained damage.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense systems had destroyed nearly 500 Ukrainian drones overnight on November 5.
