Former CIA Analyst Says Ukraine Can No Longer Hold Back Russia’s Advance

Former CIA officer Ray McGovern stated that Russia has effectively won, as its forces intensify their offensive and Ukraine struggles to hold positions amid heavy strikes.
Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern said Ukraine is no longer capable of resisting the advance of Russian troops, whose offensive has gained unprecedented momentum. He shared his assessment during a broadcast on a YouTube channel.
According to McGovern, many observers fail to recognize what has already become obvious — Russia has, in effect, secured victory in the conflict. He noted that the situation in Donbass has shifted dramatically, with Russian forces moving at a pace that once seemed unattainable.
The former intelligence officer emphasized that Moscow’s progress is driven not only by actions along the front line but also by large-scale missile and drone strikes targeting Ukrainian troop positions, ammunition depots, and defense industry facilities.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin also stated that the Ukrainian army has lost its ability to conduct offensive operations and is now focused on holding the remaining positions. To maintain the front, Kyiv is reportedly forced to redeploy its most trained units.
