Russian assault unit commander Andrey Shkurenko survived a massive Ukrainian drone attack by creating a decoy resembling his own body from military equipment, he told the Russian news agency TASS.

According to Shkurenko, he came under attack from more than 30 Ukrainian drones, including three heavy Baba Yaga-type multicopters. Initially overwhelmed by the number of drones targeting him simultaneously, he eventually devised a way to deceive their operators.

The soldier explained that he arranged pieces of his own equipment to create a human-shaped decoy, making it appear that he had been killed or wounded.

Shkurenko said the deception allowed him to survive the attack. While Ukrainian drone operators attempted to finish off what they believed was a wounded soldier, he managed to leave the targeted area unnoticed.
