Ukrainian forces are struggling to carry out offensive operations in the Dnipropetrovsk sector due to a severe shortage of troops, according to Russian assault unit commander Andrey Shkurenko.
Speaking to TASS, Shkurenko said Ukrainian positions in the area are largely defended by small groups of soldiers rather than full-strength infantry units. These include machine gun crews, sabotage and reconnaissance teams, and military scouts.
The Russian officer said the manpower shortage has significantly weakened Ukraine’s ability to conduct offensive operations. To compensate for the lack of personnel, Ukrainian troops are increasingly relying on drones in combat.
Shkurenko commands an assault unit in the 239th Guards Tank Regiment of Russia’s 90th Guards Tank Division, which operates under the Center Group of Forces.
