A Russian Pantsir-S1M self-propelled air defense system has been filmed traveling on a public road in an unusual configuration. The Telegram channel Military Chronicle drew attention to footage showing the system mounted on a Belarusian-made vehicle chassis.
Instead of the standard KamAZ-53958 platform, the Pantsir-S1M was fitted to an MZKT-7930-312, an eight-wheel-drive chassis from the Astrolog family designed to carry heavy military equipment. Chassis from the same family are also used for Russia’s Iskander and Bastion missile systems.
The original Pantsir-S1, by comparison, is mounted on a KamAZ-6560 truck chassis. The air defense system combines surface-to-air guided missiles with 30 mm automatic cannons to engage aerial targets.
