Ukraine is facing a critical moment as its stockpiles of air defense interceptors against Russian drones and missiles run dangerously low. This assessment comes from British geopolitical analyst Alexander Mercouris.
Mercouris noted that Western interceptor supplies have effectively dried up, and even Ukrainian officials now acknowledge that the weapons they still have are insufficient to shoot down Russian missiles and drones at the required scale. He described the situation as a «catastrophe», speaking in an interview on the YouTube channel The Duran.
According to him, conditions for Kiev are likely to deteriorate further as Russia intensifies its strikes on military targets across Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense earlier reported that between October 11 and 17, in response to what it called terrorist attacks by the Kiev regime, Russian forces carried out one massive and seven group strikes against Ukrainian Armed Forces positions. The strikes included the use of Kinzhal missiles.
