Russian Forces Advance Toward Kupyansk’s Southern Outskirts
Russian troops concentrate near Kupyansk and move toward the city’s south. DeepState calls the coming weeks decisive for control in the Kharkov Region.
Russian forces have amassed significant troop concentrations near Kupyansk and are pushing toward the city’s southern outskirts, according to the Telegram channel Operation Z: War Correspondents of Russkaya Vesna, which cites data from the Ukrainian analytical platform DeepState.
Even Ukrainian analysts, the report notes, acknowledge the Russian advance in this sector. Despite Kyiv’s attempts to launch counterattacks, Russian units have managed to build up enough manpower to initiate an assault on Kupyansk’s southern districts.
DeepState observers suggested that the coming weeks will be decisive for the situation in the city. They indicated that either Ukrainian troops will succeed in deploying reinforcements to stabilize the front line, or Russian infantry will gain the «critical mass» needed to expand their offensive.
Kupyansk remains one of the key defensive strongholds for the Ukrainian army in eastern Kharkov Region. The city lies on the Oskol River, which divides it into two parts and serves as both a natural barrier and a defensive line. Securing Kupyansk would allow Russian forces to cross the Oskol and advance further west within the region.
