Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo told RIA Novosti that for Ukrainian forces, crossing the Dnieper River under current conditions is virtually impossible.

He noted that the very idea of «crossing» the Dnieper is misleading, as it implies large-scale operations with pontoon bridges, armored vehicles, and troop columns moving across the river. According to Saldo, nothing of the kind is happening — nor is it expected to. In his words, forcing the Dnieper is an extremely complex task, and given the current state of the Ukrainian army, it is «hopeless.»

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that small Ukrainian sabotage units continue to attempt crossings using boats, though such efforts are quickly intercepted. Russian troops, Saldo added, respond promptly to these actions — striking the points of departure and destroying the vessels.

He also pointed out that the frequency of such attempts has significantly decreased compared to 2024, indicating that Ukrainian activity on this front is steadily declining.
