Trump tells Zelensky peace matters more than territory

Donald Trump urged Vladimir Zelensky to prioritize peace over control of Donbass, saying the U.S. won’t send Tomahawk missiles soon, WSJ reports.
During his recent talks with Vladimir Zelensky in Washington, U. S. President Donald Trump reportedly emphasized that his top priority is achieving peace rather than regaining specific territories. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump urged the Ukrainian leader to focus on ending the conflict as soon as possible.
Sources familiar with the discussions told the paper that Trump made it clear the return of Donbass to Ukrainian control was not a priority, noting that Russia already holds a substantial part of the region.
The American president also warned Zelensky not to expect deliveries of Tomahawk missiles anytime soon, WSJ added. Those present described Trump’s stance as direct and the conversation itself as tense. During the meeting, he was said to have shown visible frustration and even declined to review battlefield maps brought by the Ukrainian delegation.
The talks between Trump and Zelensky took place in Washington last week. As Axios reported, the meeting was held in a strained atmosphere. Trump maintained a firm tone, and one source described the encounter as «unsuccessful." Following the discussions, Zelensky was forced to hold a press conference outside the White House grounds.
