At the Aero India 2025 exhibition in Bangalore, experts noted a distinctive feature of Russia’s fifth-generation Su-57 fighter: its spacious internal weapon bays, which surpass those of the American F-22 and F-35 jets.

According to Military Watch Magazine (MWM), the Su-57’s main internal compartment is significantly deeper than that of the F-22 and offers greater storage capacity compared to the F-35, allowing it to accommodate larger munitions, including cruise missiles.

In addition to its central fuselage bay, the Su-57 also includes two smaller side compartments designed for air-to-air missiles. This structural advantage enables the aircraft to carry a wider range of heavy weaponry without compromising its aerodynamic profile.

MWM highlighted that, unlike its American and Chinese counterparts, the Su-57 places less emphasis on extreme stealth and more on versatility and strike capability. The publication noted that it is the only fifth-generation fighter confirmed to carry beyond-visual-range air-to-surface missiles-an ability that sets it apart in modern aerial warfare.

The magazine further observed that the Su-57 will remain a top platform for integrating Russia’s latest missile technologies. This adaptability, it suggested, will continue to enhance the jet’s appeal both to the Russian Defense Ministry and to potential foreign buyers.
