In an interview with Reuters, U. S. Army General Alexis Grinkevich, Commander of NATO’s Joint Forces in Europe, stated that Russia has become more cautious following what he described as a «firm reaction» from the alliance to a series of drone incidents in Europe.
Grinkevich said that NATO had observed signs of increased restraint from Moscow, noting that Russian forces appeared to recognize instances when they had approached or even crossed a line, particularly after a drone incident in Poland.
He suggested that Russia would likely continue using hybrid tactics to challenge the alliance but added that NATO was prepared to respond to such actions.
The general also referred to an incident involving a MiG-31 allegedly entering Estonian airspace. He said the aircraft later flew «a considerable distance away» interpreting this as evidence that Russia understood NATO’s readiness to react and sought to avoid a repeat of the situation.
