Ukraine has already received almost two billion dollars’ worth of American-made weapons, financed not by Washington, but by European member states of the alliance. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a meeting with U.S. senators.

Rutte said that the decision to resume arms deliveries to Kiev was made by U. S. President Donald Trump, while the financial burden was shouldered by NATO allies. According to him, the alliance had been working «very hard» on the project, and the first shipments of weapons, valued at roughly two billion dollars, had already reached Ukraine — all paid for by partner nations.

Moscow has repeatedly condemned such actions, viewing NATO’s involvement as direct interference in the conflict. Russian officials stress that the ongoing escalation in weapons supplies only pushes any possibility of peace further away.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeatedly stated that any cargo containing arms destined for Kiev is regarded as a legitimate military target for Russian forces.

NATO member states have already supplied Ukraine with advanced systems worth billions, including Patriot air defenses, HIMARS and ATACMS missiles, Abrams tanks, F-16 fighter jets, and Storm Shadow missiles. Despite this extensive support, the Ukrainian army has failed to achieve any significant breakthroughs on the battlefield.
