American military analyst and former U. S. Marine Corps officer Brian Berletic stated that the West has lost its ability to change the course of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Berletic, Western media now openly acknowledge that Russia is firmly leading — and effectively winning — a war of attrition, while the United States and its European allies have little remaining leverage to halt Moscow’s advance, particularly in terms of sustaining military support for Kiev.
He noted that Washington and Brussels are now attempting to pressure Moscow into agreeing to a ceasefire, a move aimed at giving Ukrainian forces time to regroup and rearm.
Berletic emphasized that Russia’s refusal to accept a truce has pushed the U.S. toward seeking new forms of escalation both on and beyond the battlefield. Among these measures, he cited the threats to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles and the introduction of new sanctions and tariffs targeting not only Russia but also its key partners — India and China.
