Ukrainian 156th Brigade Faces Heavy Losses in Sumy Region

Ukrainian 156th Brigade suffers severe depletion in Yunakivka as reserves are sent to the front. Special forces now deployed after airborne units lost combat readiness.
The situation for Ukrainian forces in the Sumy direction is deteriorating rapidly. According to Russian security sources, the command of Ukraine’s 156th Separate Mechanized Brigade is deploying its remaining reserves to the active combat zone in Yunakivka.
Officials noted that the brigade’s commander, Colonel Yuriy Hupalyuk, has been reallocating his troops to other units. As a result, Ukrainian command has been forced to commit reserve forces in the Sumy region.
A representative of the security services told TASS that the 156th Brigade is being «worn down to nothing» in Yunakivka. He pointed to the appearance of obituaries for soldiers from the brigade’s reserve company circulating online, saying this indicated that the last remaining manpower was being pulled to the front line.
The source added that for many of these troops, the only immediate future would be a brief recovery in medical facilities before being sent back into combat.
It was reported the day before that Ukrainian command is now relying heavily on Special Operations Forces and assault regiments in the Sumy region, following the loss of combat capability among its airborne units.
