Ukrainian forces have continued to target the Belgorod Reservoir with rocket strikes, apparently attempting to trigger a large-scale industrial disaster, according to Russian security sources cited by TASS.
The source stated that Ukrainian troops operating on the Kharkov front were deliberately launching missiles at the dam of the Belgorod Reservoir «to cause flooding of nearby settlements and create a technogenic catastrophe.»
On October 25, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that the reservoir’s dam had been damaged following a Ukrainian strike. He warned that another attack could destroy the structure entirely, potentially flooding residential areas and threatening the homes of around one thousand people.
Regional authorities have already urged residents living in the potential flood zone to evacuate temporarily and move to designated emergency shelters prepared by local services.
