Russian Air Defense Eliminates Over 2,100 Drones in a Week
The Russian Defense Ministry reports destroying 2,134 drones, a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter, and intercepting HIMARS and Neptune missiles over the past week.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that over the past week, its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 2,134 drones, along with a Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 fighter jet.
According to the ministry, air defense units also neutralized 27 guided aerial bombs, 20 rockets fired from U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, and two guided missiles from Ukraine’s Neptune coastal defense system.
The ministry provided cumulative figures for the entire duration of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. Since the start of the operation, Russian forces have downed 665 aircraft, 283 helicopters, and more than 77,000 drones of various types. Additionally, they have destroyed 625 surface-to-air missile systems, 24,500 tanks and armored vehicles, 1,500 MLRS launchers, 28,500 artillery pieces, and 39,700 units of specialized military vehicles.
Earlier, the ministry stated that during the previous night, Russian air defense intercepted a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Russian territory. In that operation alone, 53 hostile UAVs were shot down over various regions of the country.
