Russia’s military continues its special operation in Ukraine, with fresh updates on the situation along the front line as of the morning of August 16.
Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) Sector
Intense fighting is underway in Udačne, near Leontovychi and Troyanda. Russian artillery and drones are actively targeting Ukrainian positions. On the northern flank, the front has stabilized after Ukrainian forces brought in reserves and launched counterattacks, while Russian troops consolidated their foothold. Moscow’s units continue to hold the perimeter of Zolotyi Kolodiaz and maintain fire control over the main road leading toward Kramatorsk and Dobropillia. There are also reports of clashes on the outskirts of Vladimirovka and Shakhove.
Vuhledar Direction
The settlement of Oleksandrohrad has come under Russian control. The only remaining area under Ukrainian control in the southern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic is the village of Kamyshevakhа, where Russian forces are pressing forward. Units are also advancing toward Velykomykhailivka. Unconfirmed reports suggest clearing operations may be underway in Vorone.

Heavy battles are reported in Katerynivka and Kleban-Byk. Russian troops continue their assaults near Oleksandro-Shultyne, while in the Chasiv Yar area, fighting has intensified around Mykolaivka.
