Analysts from the American magazine Military Watch reported that Russia’s Aerospace Forces have begun using new glide bombs in the zone of the special military operation.

According to the publication, these munitions have demonstrated a flight range of about 200 kilometers-nearly double that of previous models. The upgraded FAB bombs are now equipped with rocket engines, giving Russian aircraft the ability to carry out both large-scale carpet bombings and precise strikes. As a result, the authors note, the concept of a «safe rear» for Ukrainian forces has effectively disappeared.

The magazine’s observers also suggested that these bombs could serve as a more affordable and accessible alternative to ballistic missiles and air-launched drones for strike operations. They emphasized that Russia’s defense industry has not only boosted the production of glide bombs but also expanded output of Su-34 fighter-bombers, which remain the main strike aircraft on the front lines.

According to Military Watch, the deployment of these long-range munitions could further intensify Russian air operations and significantly complicate Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
