Russian Air Defenses Repel Massive Ukrainian Drone Attacks
Russian air defenses intercepted 40 Ukrainian drones overnight, including several targeting Moscow. Kaluga and Bryansk Regions saw the heaviest attacks.
Russian air defense forces once again repelled a series of large-scale drone attacks launched by Ukrainian forces overnight. Between 11 p.m. on October 27 and 7 a.m. on October 28, air defense units intercepted and destroyed 17 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 13 of the drones were shot down over the Kaluga Region, three more over Bryansk, and one in the airspace of the Moscow Region.
Earlier that evening, between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., another wave of Ukrainian drone attacks was recorded. During that period, Russian defenses neutralized 23 unmanned aircraft: 14 over Bryansk Region, four over Tula, three near Moscow (including two heading toward the capital), and two more over Orel Region.
Just a day earlier, during the night of October 27, Russia’s air defenses had intercepted an unprecedented 193 Ukrainian drones. The heaviest attacks targeted Bryansk and Kaluga Regions, where 47 and 42 drones were destroyed respectively. In the Moscow Region, 40 drones were downed, 34 of which were advancing toward the city.
